GRACE MOORE Vintage photo of the Tennessee Nightingale, inscribed in person to collector Saul Goodman Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Saul/From/Grace Moore". Collector's ink stamp on verso dates signature May 18, 1935. She also starred in two M-G-M films of the early 1930s, but was released by that studio for putting on too much weight. After Columbia hired her, Moore, dubbed "The Tennessee Nightingale", helped popularize opera in a string of successful productions, including One Night of Love (1934), for which she was nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award. Moore was killed in a plane crash over Copenhagen during a European concert tour in 1947. Elvis Presley's mansion, Graceland, is reportedly named for her.
